Setting Up Your Account

Hey, welcome to Catchups!

In order to start using our service, you must first register an account. Please note, all information that you provide must be of truthful nature.

1.    Download the Catchups app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

2.    Once the app has downloaded, open Catchups and select Sign Up.

3.    Tap the circle on the top to choose and set a Profile Image.

4.    Create a unique Display Name. This is the name your friends will see when you message them. This can be changed later at any time.

5.    Create a unique and creative Username. Remember, you can’t change this after you sign up. Your username will be used when your friends try to search for you.

6.    Enter a valid Email Address. This is important for a few reasons. Firstly, if we need to communicate with you, we will send you an email. Secondly, if you require to reset your password or you have forgotten your password, we will send you a reset password link to your email address that you have provided us with upon registration. Take a few seconds to double check you have spelt it correctly because after tapping Sign Up, we will send you an email verification request for you to confirm.

7.    Choose a secure Password. The password limit is set to a default of 6 characters, but for added security, we recommend a password limit of 10 characters. Be sure to add a mix of numbers, capital/lowercase letters and special characters (eg. !@#$%^&*) to increase your password strength.

8.    Use the scroll options to enter your Date of Birth. The minimum age to sign up is 13 years (unless otherwise stated in your jurisdiction).

9.    Tap on the Terms of Service button and have a read through our Terms of Service Agreement.

10.Tap on the Privacy Policy button and have a read through our Privacy Policy Agreement. Also for added safety, please read through the documents we provide in our Safety Centre which outline important issues such as Community Guidelines, Safety Tips, Reporting Issues and a Parent’s Guide to Catchups.

11.Check the circle to indicate that you accept our Terms of Service & Privacy Policy.

12.Tap Sign Up.

After those few simple steps, you’re now part of the Catchups community.

Troubleshooting Registration

There may be a few reasons as to why you cannot sign up. Be sure to check the following:

1.    Make sure you have a good internet connection if you are connected to Wi-Fi. If you are connected, try moving to an area with stronger connection and if possible, try restarting the Wi-Fi device.

2.    Make sure you have reception if you are using your data on your cellular device. If you do have reception, try moving to a place with a stronger connection.

3.    Restart your phone.

4.    Close the app and try opening it again.

5.    Make sure you have the latest version of Catchups installed on your phone.
